Abbotsbury Guest Farm Accommodation

Four Star Hospitality

The main house dates back to approximately 1827 and was originally the Haarhoff family homestead. The building has been sensitively restored, preserving its historic character while maintaining modern comfort.

Abbotsbury offers two private guest units, each positioned around the garden to ensure privacy while still enjoying beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valley.

Abbotsbury Guest House

Guests stay either in The Cottage (circa 1880), a charming historic Karoo cottage or The Garden Suite, a newer luxury garden suite overlooking the valley with its sweeping views of the garden and wild valley in the distance. None lack for character, with polished yellowwood floors, restored old furniture and photographic prints and artwork on the walls.

Graham takes your supper orders when you book so as to have a fresh farm supply at the ready and you are served in your own private dining room with solid silver cutlery and bone china.

Nothing reflects the character of any guesthouse, B&B or lodge quite the way the guest book does.

Many guests describe the experience as “a balm to the soul.”

Guestbook comments frequently describe the experience as peaceful, restorative, soul-soothing and a true Karoo retreat.

I sense a genuine yearning by previous visitors to return as soon as possible. Approximately 70% are repeat guests.

People of all ages, lovers of peace and tranquility, have made Abbotsbury not only a stopover, but a destination.

Some guests have stayed more than 20 times, and one guest accumulated over 100 nights. What an endorsement!
